Summer starlings

Just a little extra for our readers this week!  I was out in the back garden doing the daily bird feeding and putting out fresh water, when I heard a flock of starlings in one of the flowering bushes.  Couldn’t resist them, so fetched the camera and caught a quick snap.

The young birds pictured here are already getting their winter plumage of spots.

These birds are really common, but, as you can see in the picture, so beautiful in the sunlight – fantastic!
